B- Documentary - Family Farming - work in progress [18 Images]
Start date: April 2006. The Family Farm. A once stable and nobel vocation is now at risk of becoming extinct. For several years Canadian Grain and Oilseed farms have been fighting a battle they cannot win. Prices for corn and beans are being driven down by cheap foreign producers. The United States and European Union have been heavily involved in subsidizing their agriculture sector, while Canada claims they cannot, and are unable to change foreign government policy through the W.T.O. This project focuses on the Willemse family, and their 1000 acre farm located in Parkhill as they fight daily battles to maximise every bushel of production, and minimize every cost. While still trying to maintain a reasonable standard of living for himself, his wife and their four children.
